After a 5-5 deadlock at halftime, scoring opportunities exploded in the second period led off by senior Amanda Bereznay|Gwynn Oak, Md. (Setan Keough) at 25:28 for the first of her three goals. The Spiders then went on a four-goal scoring run, beginning at 23:52 and ending with 22:22 left to play for a 9-6 advantage. Those goals preceded a five-goal scoring run for Richmond later in the half between 8:43 and 3:17, giving them a 21-13 edge, just before a final three-goal kick that started at 2:22 and ended with under a minute to play at 0:50.

After the first run, Longwood was able to cut the lead to one at 10-11 off goals by sophomore Jamie Brentlinger|Gambrills, Md. (Arundel) at 18:30 and Barondess at 17:42; however, the Lancers were heavily outshot by Richmond 48-29 with a second-half tally of 31-13, resulting in a 19-9 goal differential.

Richmond led in all but one other category as well, including a 25-17 edge in ground balls and 22 draw controls to LU’s 18. Longwood did make more saves than Richmond, holding a 17-9 advantage at the hands of senior Juli Liebig|Centreville, Md. (Queen Anne’s) who is credited with the loss for her third of the season.
