staunton2editsGreenville author Nick Auclair will be signing his action-adventure novel, Steel’s Treasure, at an author’s reception Saturday May 25, 5 to 7 PM at Staunton’s Black SwanBooks and Music. The event is free and open to the public.

Set in and around Clark Air Base in the 1980s, Steel’s Treasure tells the story of Capt. William Steel’s search for the billions in gold and precious gems hidden after WWII in the jungles of the Philippines by the infamous General Yamashita, the Tiger of Malay. “A rollicking debut novel,” writes one Amazon reviewer, “the author shares a deep understanding of military intelligence, an appreciation of history, and an appetite for adventure.”

Auclair also runs Green Fence Farm in Greenville, VA and teaches counterinsurgency and counternarcotics at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington. In Steel’s Treasure, he draws on his twenty years’ experience as an U.S. intelligence officer, five of those in the Philippines where he spent his free time chasing after the Tiger of Malay’s treasure.

From the cover of Steel’s Treasure: “U.S. Air Force Captain William Steel is on the hunt for billions in gold and precious gems. Nothing stands between him and the hidden fortune – except for the rugged Philippine jungle; a psychotic pedophile with a mysterious and murderous vendetta against Steel; sexy bar girls after his cash; one lusty Filipina journalist after his heart; and Steel’s own team, a rag-tag band of Negrito pygmy tribesmen whose legendary tracking skills turn up trouble as often as treasure. Set on and around Clark Air Base in the 1980s, Steel’s Treasure is a thriller adventure, mystery, and work of military historical fiction that weaves Nick Auclair’s experiences as an intelligence officer with firsthand accounts of the war between the New People’s Army and the American-backed Marcos regime.”

Steel’s Treasure is published by On The Fence Writers (www.onthefencewriters.com). It is available at Black Swan Books and Music (1 E. Beverly Street, Staunton. www.blackswanstaunton.com, 540-712-0123) and in paperback, Nook, and Kindle formats from Amazon.com and BN.com. Auclair is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SteelsTreasure and blogs at www.SteelsTreasure.com .
