emma leighShenandoah Valley country music artist Emma Leigh has been nominated in three categories for the upcoming 2015 Nashville Universe Awards.

Leigh has been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year for her debut single “Daddy’s Gonna Kill Him”, and for the prestigious Shooting Star Award given to the most promising new artist of the year.

The Nashville Universe Awards are sponsored by The Nashville Universe, a website that was created to help fans of country music find the best in new and independent artists and to help the artist gain fans, recognition, and increase their social media presence to rise above the noise on Nashville’s “Music Row.” As members of both the CMA and the ACM, The Nashville Universe strives to “create a sandbox where all country music lovers and artists can come and play.”

Their mission is to help artists get heard by the right ears, help them to obtain record deals and awards, and not charge them for the services. The awards are given each year to the artists with the highest number of votes, with the top 5 in each category being invited to the live awards show held in downtown Nashville on February 23rd.

Fans of the artists can sign up for a free Nashville Universe membership that allows them to vote for their favorite artists and music. Voting takes place directly on the website at http://thenashvilleuniverse.com/page/ nashvilleuniverse-awards and ends on January 31st.

Jeff McDaniel, Leigh’s Manager says, “I encourage every fan of Emma’s, and fans of all local music in the Valley to go to the site, cast your vote, and let Nashville know we’re here and we’re rich with talent! Emma is one of our local artists that is in a unique position to bring back to the Valley the musical glory we enjoyed during the reign of the Statler Brothers.”

Leigh has been performing in and around the Valley since she was 11 years old. Now, at the age of 17, the 2014 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School has already enjoyed much success in the music industry. She did a five-year stint as a cast member of the regional and nationally syndicated TV show “Virginia Dreams Center Stage,” performing at several of the region’s premier festivals and venues.

Leigh has been honored to open for many national acts including Justin Moore during the Bud Light concert series at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Charlottesville last summer.

Her debut single “Daddy’s Gonna Kill Him” has been a major hit on the Independent Country Music charts and on several of the major national country music Internet radio shows. The success of “Daddy’s Gonna Kill Him” led to Leigh garnering the Nashville Universe nominations. Currently it holds the number six spot on the IndieWorld Country Charts and is rising on the New Music Weekly charts as well.

DJ Brad Mercer of KIX FM in Palm Springs, California, who hosts the nationally syndicated “Brad Mercer’s Bands and Fans” radio show says this of Leigh, “Emma Leigh is one of the coolest up and coming Indie artists I’ve had the pleasure of playing on my radio show. You’ll be hearing a lot about this girl very soon!”

2015 looks to be a big year in Emma Leigh’s career. She has received an invitation to showcase at the 2015 CMAFest in Nashville, as one of the 50 top new country music artists. The showcase is sponsored by Bobby “Iceman” Golombosky, host of The Iceman’s Cavern, a worldwide Internet radio station that highlights the best in new and upcoming country artists from the U.S and around the world..

The three-day showcase will take place at Manuel’s in downtown Nashville and Emma is slotted to perform on June 13th.
