The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia beginning at 8 a.m. Friday.
The warning is in effect for a 48-hour period through 8 a.m. Sunday. The forecast from the NWS has the Central Shenandoah Valley in line to receive up to 30 inches of snow from the approaching storm.
Sustained winds of 15-25 mph are forecast, with gusts up to 30 mph.
Heavy snow is expected to begin Friday morning and continue into late Saturday night. The heaviest snow and strongest winds are expected Friday night into the mid-day hours Saturday.
Travel will be severely limited if not impossible beginning Friday afternoon, with visibility near zero with whiteout conditions at times.
