lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesBaltimore scored four runs in the ninth, but the Orioles rally came up a run short in a 7-6 loss in a series finale at Toronto Thursday.

The O’s trailed 7-2 before getting an RBI single from Travis Snider and a three-run homer by Manny Machado that made things interesting. Still with just one out in the inning, Baltimore couldn’t get anything going from there, with pinch-hitter Steve Peace flying out and Ryan Lavarnway striking out to finish it out.

Adam Jones had two hits in four at bats to raise his season average to .424. The homer from Machado was his third of the season, and he had four RBI on the day to raise his season total to 11.

Chris Tillman (2-2) took the loss, giving up seven runs, all earned, on five hits and five walks in four and a third innings.

The O’s bullpen – Brad Brach, Tommy Hunter and Zach Britton – kept the team in the game with three and two-thirds innings of two-hit, scoreless relief.

Drew Hutchison (2-0) got the win for the Blue Jays, giving up two runs on four hits in eight innings, with seven strikeouts and no walks.
