Kaine releases new TV ad

A new TV ad from the Tim Kaine Senate campaign highlights the former governor’s jobs agenda.

“I know we can create jobs right away by investing in small businesses and rebuilding our roads and bridges. But we can’t stop there. Education and training are the keys to the jobs of tomorrow,” Kaine says in the ad, which will run in major media markets across Virginia.

The Kaine campaign said on Wednesday that it has purchased more than $4.5 million in TV advertising time between now and Election Day.

A spokesperson for the campaign of Republican Senate nominee George Allen referred to the ad as “Tim Kaine’s Extreme Makeover” and said Kaine “pretends to support businesses while championing every major failed economic policy coming out of Washington.”

“If Tim Kaine were actually listening to businesses, he would know that tax increases don’t create jobs, the health care tax law is one of the greatest impediments to hiring, and Washington’s assault on American energy is raising prices and hurting jobs,” Allen mouthpiece Emily Davis said.

When Kaine was governor, Virginia was named the best state for business four years running, from 2006-2009. The state has slipped slightly, to #2, on the list in each of his Republican successor Bob McDonnell’s first two years as governor.

“Across all parts of the Commonwealth I’ve heard time and again that we need leaders in Washington who can work together to support our small businesses, rebuild our roads and bridges, and ensure the next generation of workers have the skills to compete in a global economy,” Kaine asid. “After discussions with business owners, community leaders, and educators, I’ve laid out strategies that will strengthen our economy and create jobs throughout our Commonwealth and the nation.”
