June 23 overnight work to affect traffic on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County

Pavement testing that will require mobile left-lane closures on northbound Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, until 7 a.m. the following morning. These operations are scheduled to take place between mile marker 185 and 195, and will also require a short detour for eastbound I-64 traffic in the Lexington area.

For about four hours on Thursday night into early Friday morning, eastbound I-64 drivers headed northbound on I-81 will enter southbound I-81 to exit 188A (Route 60/Buena Vista). Drivers will then use the off- and on-ramps at this exit to take I-81 northbound. Signs and variable message boards will direct motorists on the detour route.

All work is weather permitting.
