Former Republican Sen. John Warner to announce support for Clinton-Kaine

Contributors

john warnerAt an event in Alexandria on Wednesday morning, Sen. Tim Kaine will be joined by five-term Republican Sen. John Warner of Virginia, former Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and former Secretary of the U.S. Navy.

The event will highlight how Hillary Clinton is by far the strongest and most experienced candidate on a full range of national security issues, and that she has the knowledge, steadiness and temperament to be Commander in Chief. Sen. Warner served on the Senate Armed Services Committee for 30 years and for 20 of those years as either Chairman or Ranking Member.

As senator, Warner worked with Clinton on the Armed Services Committee to support the men and women of the military and their families.

At the event with Kaine and members of the defense community, Warner will signal for the first time in his long and distinguished career his intention to vote for a Democratic presidential ticket: Clinton-Kaine. The leaders will highlight how, if elected, Clinton and Kaine will provide service members with the respect, support and dedicated leadership they deserve and work with our allies around the world to keep American families safe.
