James Madison lacrosse player Casey Ancarrow (Jarrettsville, Md./John Carroll) has been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America Team and the Synapse Sports All-America Team.
The redshirt senior attacker was selected to the IWLCA All-America Third Team for the third year in a row. She was named to the Synapse team for the second time in the last three years.
Ancarrow, the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Year, led the Dukes with 53 points on 41 goals and 12 assists and also had a team-leading 30 draw controls. She was among 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award, which is presented to the nation’s top women’s lacrosse player. Ancarrow completed her career ranked fifth all-time at JMU in goals (159) and points (220), tied eighth in draw controls (199) and tied ninth in assists (61).
The IWLCA will honor the All-America selections at the IWLCA All-America banquet on May 25 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pa.
Ancarrow is only the fourth player in JMU lacrosse history to win All-America recognition three times. She joins Nora Maguire (1990-92), Megan Riley (1997-99) and Lisa Staedt (2001-03) as the only Dukes honored three times.
