JMU to host NCAA Women’s Selection Show Watch Party

jmu logoJMU will host a watch party for the 2014 NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Show at the Convocation Center, Monday, March 17. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the selection show slated to begin at 7 p.m.

All fans are invited to attend and find out where CAA Player of the Year Kirby Burkholder, CAA Defensive Player of the YearNikki Newman and the rest of the squad are headed for their March Madness run. MadiZONE HD SportsNet presented by the JMU Alumni Association will also be streamed in the Convocation Center and on JMUSports.com with interviews of coaches and players beginning at 6:15. After a break for the announcement of the 64-team field on ESPN, MadiZONE will come back immediately with the exclusive first comments from the team.

The Dukes won their seventh Colonial Athletic Association title on Sunday with a 70-45 win over Delaware at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. It is the team’s third CAA Championship in the last five years and guaranteed them their ninth consecutive postseason appearance. Redshirt sophomore Jazmon Gwathmey earned tournament Most Outstanding Player honors after scoring a career-high 20 points in the championship game. She was joined on the All-Tournament team Burkholder and sophomore guard Precious Hall.
