Ubaldo Jimenez hasn’t looked this good in Baltimore. The righty threw a complete-game two-hitter in a 7-3 Orioles win over Tampa Bay on Labor Day.
Jimenez (6-11, 6.19 ERA, 1.68 WHIP) gave up three runs on two hits and a walk, striking out six, on 114 pitches, 75 for strikes.
All of that happened in the first. Logan Morrison hit a three-run homer to put the Rays up 3-0, and the Rays had just one baserunner the rest of the way.
The O’s (75-62) got a homer and three RBIs from Chris Davis (.226/.339/.479, 34 HR, 77 RBI), who was 2-for-4 on the day.
Baltimore is two games back of Toronto (77-60) in the AL East, and a half-game up on Detroit (74-62) for the second AL wild-card spot.
