Jenny Shultis named assistant strength and conditioning coach at UVa.

uva logoFormer Cavalier rower Jenny Shultis has been named an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Virginia athletics. Shultis, a native of Lexington, Va., has served as a graduate assistant in the UVa strength and conditioning department since the fall of 2012.

She will work with the Virginia men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and women’s lacrosse teams. Shultis assists in the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs, teaches execution, technique and safety and assists in the rehabilitation of injured student-athletes.

Shultis was a four-year walk-on for the Virginia rowing program. She was a member of a team that won NCAA team championships in 2010 and 2012 and captured ACC team titles in 2010, 2011 and 2012. She rowed for the Second Varsity Eight that won the ACC championship in 2011. She received the team’s Magruder Dent Oarsmanship of the Year Award in 2011.

Shulits graduated from Virginia in 2012 with a degree in environmental science. She is currently completing her master’s degree in education kinesiology. She is a member of the National Strength Coaches Association and is completing her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist qualifications.
