Jacoby headlines Athletic Club dinner

Washington Redskins legend Joe Jacoby will be guest speaker at the Shenandoah Valley Athletic Club’s August meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Harrisonburg Ramada Inn.
Jacoby was a standout offensive lineman for the Redskins from 1981 to 1993 and was a member of the team’s famed “Hogs” line that paved the way for three Super Bowl championships for the team.

Jacoby is currently an assistant football coach at Shenandoah University.

The Shenandoah Valley Athletic Club is a nonprofit organization of members who share a common interest in scholastic, intercollegiate, and professional athletes. The club meets for dinner and a program nine times a year. In addition to college coaches and athletic directors, past speakers have included sports personalities from NASCAR, the NFL, the NBA, pro hockey, and professional boxing. The nights of the meetings vary each month according to the availability of the guest speaker.

This is the beginning of the eighth year for the SVAC and is the annual membership renewal meeting. A membership form is available on the club’s website (www.shenvalleysport.org). Dinner reservations for the August meeting must be made before Aug. 3 with Carol Schikman (1342 South Dogwood Drive, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801, phone 540.746.3119).

Anyone wishing to become a member or attend the August meeting as a guest may contact the club president, Brad Chewning (540.434.3913, [email protected]). Individuals may also request to be put on the SVAC email list for information of upcoming meetings.
