Interstate 81 lane closures in Shenandoah County overnight

interstate 81A brief early-morning closure is scheduled on July 15 from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. for the Interstate 81 southbound off-ramp at exit 283 (Woodstock) in Shenandoah County. The off-ramp closure is for paving operations. The southbound on-ramp at exit 283 will remain open.

Southbound I-81 motorists can access exit 283 by continuing south to exit 279 (Edinburg) and then following northbound I-81 back to exit 283. Signs and variable message boards will direct drivers on the detour route.

Nightly single-lane closures will continue on I-81 southbound from mile marker 286 to 282. Crews will be milling, paving and applying pavement marking. Work is the weeks of July 11 and July 18, Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following mornings. The estimated completion date is July 22.

All work is weather permitting.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
