Interstate 81 crash in Augusta County under investigation

interstate 81At 12:17 p.m., Friday, Virginia State Police responded to a crash on Interstate 81 near the 217 mile marker in Augusta County. A tractor-trailer was traveling along I-81 when it ran off into the median and overturned onto its side. The driver was not injured in the crash.

The trailer has to be unloaded before it can be up-righted and cleared from the scene.

As of 1:45 p.m., the southbound lanes of I-81 were re-opened to through traffic.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
