Moving out can be a tedious task for most of us. However, if you hire a professional and reputed moving company, you can be spared the hassle of unpleasant experiences during moving. You will need to do proper research to select the best moving agency with the most affordable moving charges. Professional moving agencies like California New York Express Moving Prices are based on a number of factors which ensures complete transparency to the customers. A proper understanding of these factors can help you plan you move better and save considerably on moving charges. The key factors which influence moving charges are as follows:

Volume of Shipment

The volume and weight of your shipment influences your moving charges. The more the volume and weight of the shipment, the greater the moving charges. Bulkier and voluminous items may need more movers to pack and shift them from your house to the moving truck. The moving truck will also need more fuel to transport heavier items from the pickup point to the destination. Heavier items may also take longer to be moved. All these factors increase the cost of transportation for the moving company. The additional costs are then passed on to you as higher moving charges.

Time of Moving

Your moving charges will also depend on the time of the year when you make the move. The moving charges will be higher up to 20% during the peak summer months (May-September). If you are moving on the weekends during this peak season, you can expect to pay even more. In order to get the best deal and minimize your moving expenses, it is recommended to plan it during the off-season if possible. Moving during the weekdays is also cheaper compared to the weekends.

Distance

The distance of moving directly impacts your moving charges. Intrastate moving which requires the items to be moved within a state is cheaper than interstate moving. You can expect an average moving fee of $2,300 for intrastate moving. Interstate moving which involves transporting your belongings from one state to another are costly. For an interstate moving assignment of up to 1200 miles of distance, you can expect an average moving fee of $4,000-$5,000. The charges for movement can be decided based on distance, weight of shipment, or any other factors deemed appropriate by the moving company. You should clearly understand how the interstate and intrastate moving charges are calculated by your moving company.

Add-Ons

The number of add-ons influence the fee which you will be charged by the moving company. If your belongings need to be moved by providing special equipment by the moving company, then you will be charged more. Furniture which need to be assembled and disassembled, extra packing materials, additional movers needed, etc. due to special nature of your items, involve additional cost. In such cases, your moving charges will be higher.

Extra Fees

You may be charged extra fees by the moving company depending on the type of items to be moved, distance of your front door to the main road, number of floors, etc. If you have a large number of heavy and bulky items to be moved, you may be charged an extra fee by the moving company.  They may also charge you a long carry fee if the distance between your front door and the moving truck is high. If the hired labors for moving are required to go up and down multiple floors by stairs, then the moving company can charge you extra for this laborious work. In some cases, you may need the moving truck to stop on the way for an extra pickup, for which the moving company can again charge you extra fees. You should get all these things clarified with the moving company before giving them the contract.

Storage

You may need some of your belongings to be stored or held by the moving company before, during, and after the move. It is usually the case when it is a complicated case of moving. The moving company will charge you extra if you request them to hold or store your belongings. You should check the storage rates from different moving companies before hiring them. It is also noteworthy to remember that you should only try to store your most essential belongings as the more items you store, the greater will be the storage charges.
