The leaders of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition are celebrating of the two-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act.
SEEC leaders include Co-Chairs Reps. Doris Matsui, Mike Quigley, and Paul Tonko, Vice Chairs Reps. Don Beyer, Matt Cartwright, Sean Casten, Chellie Pingree, and Katie Porter, and Chair Emeritus Rep. Gerry Connolly.
“Two years ago, Democrats passed the most ambitious clean energy investments ever – and our Clean Energy Plan is already delivering for the American people. Thanks to the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, we are not only bringing American jobs back home and reducing energy costs for hardworking families, but we are also achieving energy independence and emerging as a clean energy industrial powerhouse,” the leaders said in a statement.
America’s clean energy future has never looked so bright, according to SEEC leaders, thanks to the legislation.
“In the most recent tally, our Clean Energy Plan has already mobilized $361 billion in private investments for clean energy while creating 312,900 new good-paying clean jobs, and the numbers are only going up from here,” SEEC leaders said.
The Clean Energy Plan helps everyday Americans reduce energy bills and save money on gas by using electric. Electric vehicle tax credits have saved American consumers $1.5 billion. New home energy rebate programs and residential tax credits are helping American families upgrade to energy-efficient appliances, home batteries and clean energy.
“These transformative investments are paired with more than 300 environmental and climate actions taken by the Biden-Harris Administration, from cutting pollution from fossil fuel-fired power plants to delivering clean drinking water for all Americans. This makes President Biden the most consequential president on climate action in American history,” SEEC leaders said.
“Passing America’s most important climate law to date is just the first step. We at SEEC will continue to fight for critical climate and clean energy investments and ensure Republicans don’t roll back the hard-won progress we have made. We wish a happy second Inflation Reduction Act anniversary to you all as we celebrate the priceless gift of clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment for generations to come.”
The SEEC is a coalition of 98 members of the U.S. House of Representatives founded in January 2009 to be a focused, active and effective coalition for advancing policies that address climate change, promote clean energy innovation and domestic manufacturing, develop renewable energy resources, create family-sustaining clean jobs, protect our nation’s air, water, and natural environment and promote environmental justice.
