House Democrats repeat call for special GA session on redistricting

House Democratic Leader David Toscano and Caucus Chair Charniele Herring issued the following statement in response to Attorney General Mark Herring’s decision not to appeal the district court’s ruling in the gerrymandering litigation involving 11 House districts.

“The Attorney General’s decision underscores the need to serve the best interests of Virginia voters as quickly as possible. We request that the House Republicans drop their protracted defense of gerrymandered districts and convene a special session of the General Assembly so that we may redraw the districts in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.”
