Hiker found dead off Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina on Sunday

A Concord, N.C., man was found deceased at Price Lake Trail off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina on Sunday.

Freddie Morgan Jr., 70, of Concord, was located at around 6 p.m. Sunday, according to a report from the National Park Service.

A friend who had been hiking the Parkway with Morgan had communicated with first responders at 5:35 p.m. to indicate concern for Morgan’s welfare.

Parkway rangers and the Blowing Rock Fire Department responded to the scene and found Morgan deceased off trail due to a medical emergency shortly after 6 p.m.
