Harrisonburg Turks top Charlottesville Tom Sox, 8-1

hbg turksCatcher Joe Lytle (Oklahoma City University) went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Carlos Chavez (Oklahoma City University) worked five innings of three-hit ball to lead Harrisonburg to an 8-1 win over visiting Charlottesville Sunday evening at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Turks improved to 2-1 by winning their home opener.  The expansion Tom Sox dropped to 0-3, playing their first three games on the road.

Left fielder Jared Baker (Oklahoma City) added three hits to the Turks’ 13-hit assault.

The Turks will host Waynesboro on Tuesday and Staunton on Wednesday to wrap up a three-game homestand.  Tuesday is “DARE Night” with free admission for DARE graduates wearing their DARE t-shirt.  Wednesday is “June Dairy Month” with free admission with sponsor ad found in Tuesday’sedition of the Daily News Record.

All Harrisonburg home games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.

No Valley League games are scheduled for Monday.
