shentelShentel has been chosen to provide dark fiber connections between all municipal buildings in the City of Harrisonburg, as well as lit fiber services and dedicated Internet access to all of the Harrisonburg City School buildings.

Upon completion of an exhaustive review process including multiple vendors, the City of Harrisonburg ultimately selected Shentel.  “We are extremely excited about this opportunity,” said Paul Malabad, IT Director for the City of Harrisonburg. “The city appreciates Shentel’s commitment to providing advanced telecommunication services and their dedication to supporting our specific needs. Shentel is regionally headquartered, which means local support, and they have a historically great reputation.”

Shentel provides an advanced fiber-optic network designed to support reliable, high-bandwidth data connectivity. This highly flexible infrastructure lets Shentel assume the burden of managing customer networks while allowing the customer to freely scale data capabilities based on their own individual needs.  Shentel also leverages their E-Rate expertise by providing K-12 customers, such as the Harrisonburg City Schools, and libraries with network designs of up to 100Gbps which exceed both state and national requirements.

“We are proud to provide industry-leading solutions to our customers such as the City of Harrisonburg and the Harrisonburg City Schools,” said Ed McKay, Senior Vice President of Engineering & Network Planning for Shentel. “We are committed to serving the growing data needs of businesses, schools and local governments throughout the region not just today, but into the future.”
