Halifax County: Danville man killed in single-vehicle accident on Saturday

One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Philpott Road in Halifax County on Saturday.

Demietre “Mietre” Brandon, 33, of Danville, was ejected from the vehicle.

Virginia State Police is investigating the fatal accident that occurred at 7:15 a.m. Brandon’s Chevrolet Spark was heading west, one mile east of Hackberry Road, when it went off the right side of the road, down an embankment and struck a tree.

Brandon was not wearing a seatbelt.

Brandon attended Danville public schools. He was born with cerebral palsy, according to his obituary. He was a member of the White Oak Grove Baptist Church and was employed in the maintenance department at Dollar General in South Boston. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday.

The crash is under investigation.
