A Greene County man faces charges of soliciting a minor online after being taken into custody without incident Wednesday (Oct. 2) by Virginia State Police. Robert L. Beverage, 56, of Ruckersville, Va., is being held at the Rockingham County Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond. Beverage has been charged in Greene County with two felony counts of use of a communications system to facilitate certain offenses involving children (18.2-374.3).
The Virginia State Police High-Tech Crime Division initiated the investigation based on a complaint received last week. Further investigation revealed that in recent months Beverage has engaged in illegal contact online with a teenage female.
