Grants available for dam and floodplain projects

AFP

newspaper-headerDam owners and local governments can apply for $305,000 in grants available from the Virginia Dam Safety, Flood Prevention and Protection Assistance Fund.

The maximum amount available per grant will be based on project scoring and the total amount of funds requested. All grants are reimbursements and require a 50 percent match. The fund is managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Dam safety grants are available for private dam owners and local governments. They can be used for break inundation zone analysis, mapping and digitalization; emergency action plans; incremental damage analysis; and engineering costs related to dam repairs.

All requests must be submitted by May 15. For more information, visitdcr.virginia.gov or call 804-371-6095.
