The Shenandoah Valley Governor’s School in Fishersville will host an open house today from 6-8:15 p.m.

The event will offer a variety of performances, readings, art exhibits and demonstrations, science presentations and poster sessions, senior project displays and class demonstrations.

“Our open house is designed to give the community a unique, exceptional look at the work and accomplishments of our students,” said Linda Cauley, director of the Governor’s School, which is located on U.S. 250 in the Valley Vocational Technical Center. “All SVGS staff and students will participate, and we hope the community comes out to join us for what we think will be a fun and informative event.”

The SVGS is a program for gifted, talented and highly motivated students that serves some 180 11th- and 12th-grade students from Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County. Eleven full-time and many part-time adjunct instructors work with the students.

For further information, call 540.245.5088, or visit the SVGS Web site at www.svgs.k12.va.us.
