Waynesboro jumped out to a 13-0 lead after four innings and coasted to an easy 15-5 win at New Market Saturday night.
The floodgates opened with a five-run second for Waynesboro that was highlighted by a two-run homer to left-center off the bat of Seth Lucio, Lucio’s first home run of the season. Devin Smith also hit his first homer of the season for the Generals in a three-run third.
Jacob Hoyle and Julian Ridings each had three hits to pace Waynesboro’s 16-hit attack.
Starting pitcher Rob Curran (1-0) picked up the win, allowing four runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
The win improves the Generals to 4-3 on the 2012 season.
Waynesboro travels to Harrisonburg for a road game Sunday night before returning home for a two-game homestand. The Generals host Staunton at 7 p.m. on Monday and host Rockbridge at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
