Game Notes: VMI baseball hosts Wofford in weekend series

Chris Graham

vmiVMI baseball will return to action Friday, when the Keydets open a three-game series against Wofford at Gray-Minor Stadium. First pitch of the SoCon contest is scheduled for 6 p.m., with Saturday’s game to follow at 4 and Sunday’s contest set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

How to Follow

Fans can follow along with the action via live stats, and all three games will be broadcast free of charge on the SoCon Digital Network.

Probable Starting Pitchers

Friday: WOF RHP Matt Milburn vs. VMI RHP Matthew Eagle
Saturday: WOF LHP Adam Scott vs. VMI RHP Josh Winder
Sunday: WOF RHP Jacob Condra-Bogan vs. VMI TBA

Notes

Shortstop Jacob Jaye enters this series on a career-high six-game hitting streak, during which he is hitting 9 for 24 (.375) with two home runs and three multi-hit games.

The Keydets are 15-4 when outhitting their opponents this season, but when the opponent collects more hits, VMI is 3-19.

One reason for VMI’s 14-10 record at home this year has been the performance of David Geary, who is hitting .394 with 13 doubles and a .472 on-base percentage at home. The Keydets will look to improve their home ERA this weekend, however, as that sits at 6.17.

Next Time Out

Following this series, the Keydets travel to Richmond on April 26 to take on the VCU Rams. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at The Diamond.

Note: Game notes will be available Thursday evening.
