Fundraising gala to build support for downtown revitalization in Harrisonburg

Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance will host Renaissance Night, the annual fundraising gala for downtown revitalization, on Saturday, May 12th. The event will be held from 6:30-11:30 p.m. at Dave’s Downtown Taverna.

This year’s event features a 1990s theme, complete with a costume contest. Guests are invited to wear ’90s garb, business attire, or black tie ensembles. Dinner, drinks, and dancing will be accompanied by live music by Everyday People.

Guests will have the opportunity to bid on items from local businesses and artists, as well as a number of vacation packages. A silent auction will take place until 8:30 p.m., followed by a live auction at 8:45 pm. A raffle will also be held to win one of three trips for two to Seattle, Washington; a Carribean cruise; or Nova Scotia.

Some featured items in this year’s auction include: a week-long stay at an oceanfront resort in the Outer Banks, a diamond necklace from James McHone Jewelry, and downtown shopping and dining packages.

The revitalization efforts of HDR have helped develop programs and projects for economic development, beautification and historic preservation, and promotions and special events. To continue funding these efforts, money raised from Renaissance Night will go to the operations of these and other programs.

HDR is very thankful for all of the Renaissance Night sponsors. Special thanks go out to the event’s platinum and gold sponsors: Huggins & Associates of Ameriprise Financial, Dave’s Downtown Taverna,

Ken Surber of Edward Jones Investments, Matchbox Realty & Management Services, Jenny Kuszyk of Newman Avenue Associates, Union First Market Bank, Classic Kitchen & Bath, Denton Family Charitable Foundation, Friendship Industries, Laura A. Thornton – PLC, US Foodservice, Valley Renovators, and Virginia Eagle Distributing.

Tickets for Renaissance Night are $75 until May 7th and $100 after that. Tickets may be purchased online at www.downtownharrisonburg.org/renaissancenight, in person at the HDR offices on 212 South Main Street in Downtown Harrisonburg, or by calling (540) 432-8922.
