Harrisonburg Democrats nominated three candidates to run for city council and one to run for treasurer in the Nov. 4 elections.

Richard Baugh, Kai Degner and Dave Wiens will challenge for open seats on Harrisonburg City Council. Bill Ney will run for city treasurer. The quartet was nominated at a meeting of the Harrisonburg Democratic Committee this evening.

And now Dems in Harrisonburg turn their attention to November.

“There’s certainly a lot of interest in Democratic candidates this year,” Baugh said. “There’s a lot of excitement.”

“I’m excited to be part of a Democratic team that promotes smart growth and open government,” Degner said.

“It’s a good year to be a Democrat,” Wiens said. “The Democratic Party is more people-oriented, and our campaigns this year will show that.”

“We all want what is best for Harrisonburg,” Ney said. “That’s why we’re running, to serve our city.
