Frederick County | Middletown man dead in roll-over crash on I-81

The driver in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Frederick County on Saturday has died from his injuries.

Ronald E. Paul Jr., 64, of Middletown, was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred at 8:08 a.m. on I-81 northbound at the 311-mile marker.

Paul was attempting to pass another vehicle when he lost control and went off of the left side of the road. His Toyota Camry then went through the southbound lanes, rolled over and struck a sign.

Paul was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation
