Former VMI Keydets part of season-opening minor league baseball series in Hickory

Chris Graham

vmi_logo2Two former VMI Keydet pitchers, Connor Bach and Reed Garrett, will have a unique perspective on their minor league season openers this weekend – they will be facing each other.

Bach, who made the opening day roster for the Hagerstown Suns, is scheduled to start against the Hickory Crawdads on Friday night in Hickory, N.C. It will be Bach’s first South Atlantic League (Sally) appearance after spending the majority of last season in the New York-Penn League.

Garrett, meanwhile, is set to pitch the next day for Hickory against Hagerstown. It will be his first Sally League outing as well, as he spent last season in the Northwest League, pitching for the Spokane Indians.

Fans can find more information about the series at the Hickory Crawdads’ web site, linked to the left of this article.
