Former UVA starting QB Greyson Lambert sets NCAA record

greyson lambertGreyson Lambert lost the starting quarterback job at UVA in the spring, and according to coach Mike London, the battle between Lambert, the 2014 starter, and last year’s backup, Matt Johns, “wasn’t even close.”

Lambert transferred to Georgia, and things seem to be working out pretty well for the redshirt junior.

Lambert set an NCAA single-game record for completion percentage, going 24-for-25 passing for 330 yards and three touchdowns in the seventh-ranked Bulldogs’ 52-20 win over South Carolina on Saturday.

A spring graduate of the University of Virginia, Lambert was able to play immediately at Georgia, with two years of eligibility remaining.

He won the starting job for coach Mark Richt after a close three-way competition coming out of the August training camp.

For the season, Lambert is 43-for-58 passing (74.1 percent) for 587 yards and five touchdowns, without an interception, and a 187.6 passer rating.

Johns, at UVA, is 64-for-96 passing (66.7 percent) for 790 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions, and a 150.2 passer rating.
