T.J. Leyden, a former leader in the neo-Nazi movement, will speak on “Turning Away From Hate” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.
During the evening convocation, Leyden will tell his story of spending more than 15 years as a leading recruiter, organizer and propagandist for the white supremacist and neo-Nazi movement.
After leaving the movement, Leyden worked for over five years with the Task Force Against Hate at the Simon Wiesenthal Center teaching on the culture of hate and the importance in fighting back against it.
The ex-Marine is an educator and was a featured speaker at the Clinton White House Conference on Hate in Washington, D.C., and was a contributor to California Gov. Gray Davis’ report, “Governor’s Advisory Panel on Hate Groups.”
Leyden also has trained members of the Pentagon, FBI, military, law enforcement, educators and students the importance of appreciating the differences in all people.
The convocation is sponsored by the Weimer Christian Vocation of Peace and Peacemaking Lectures and is open to the public at no charge.
