Fishburne Military School senior J.P. Gonzalez was among a large group of cadets at the Waynesboro school to donate blood during a drive held in conjunction with Virginia Blood Services on Wednesday. “This is my first time,” said Gonzalez, of Washington, D.C. Asked if he’d had any trepidation about pain, Gonzalez said, “Not really.” He then added, “The needle was a little bit bigger than I’d thought it was going to be.” Sharing that perspective was senior Jan Przybylski of Chesapeake. Actually, he felt a small jolt when the needle first went in. “Yeah, that was more than I’d expected,” he said, forcing a smile through clenched teeth.
