Fishburne’s Jabari Craig commits to Southern Cal

Fishburne Military School basketball player Jabari Craig announced on Twitter Thursday morning that he has verbally committed to Southern Cal.

Craig, a 6’10”, 215-pound forward-center from Toronto, picked USC from a list of potential suitors that included Arizona State, Louisville, Marquette, Ohio State, Texas and Old Dominion.

Listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals and ESPN, Craig is an elite athletic talent who should fit well into USC coach Andy Enfield’s up-tempo approach.

Craig played his junior season at Tucker (Ga.) High School, one of the stronger high-school programs in the country, and averaged 8.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game while sharing time in the frontcourt with Texas A&M signee Davonte Fitzgerald.

“USC was a dream school for me. I always wanted to go to the school. I’ve been there, I’ve seen what it’s like. They have everything to offer for me, and I have what they need,” Craig said.

Craig said the decision came down to USC and Arizona State, the only other school that he visited. Purdue, which had appeared to be the early frontrunner for Craig, was in the mix at the end as well, he said.

“It was a tough decision to make. I’ve just got to follow my dreams,” Craig said.

Fishburne postgrad coach Ed Huckaby said he expects Craig to flourish at Southern Cal.

“I’m really excited for him. He’ll do a good job out there. He’s a guy that will make an immediate impact,” Huckaby said.
