First Bank will celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated South Region Headquarters at 1 West Frederick Street in Staunton on Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon.
First Bank entered the southern Shenandoah Valley market on April 17 via the acquisition of six branches formerly operated by Bank of America. The First Bank South Region includes offices in Harrisonburg, Elkton, Staunton, Waynesboro, Dillwyn, and Farmville, Virginia. The region is led by Regional President Norman “Butch” Smiley, a well-known community leader and former community bank CEO in Staunton.
First Bank employs 35 associates in the South Region, including an experienced team of commercial and mortgage lenders. According to the FDIC, as of June 30, 2015 First Bank had 5.38% of the deposit market share in Staunton and 9.48% of the deposit market share in Waynesboro. Total deposits for the South Region at June 30, 2015 were $143.2 million.
The newly renovated headquarters is two stories with a total of 8,200 square feet of space. The first floor is dedicated to the retail banking lobby and consumer lending services. The second floor includes executive offices, commercial banking, and a board room that will be available for use by local non-profits and community organizations.

The ribbon cutting will take place at 10:30 am. The celebration will also include a tour of the remodeled building, refreshments and a charitable donation presentation to New Directions Center, Inc. and the Valley Children’s Advocacy Center, both of Staunton.
