An 82-year-old woman from Haymarket has been charged in a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist on Friday in Fauquier County.

Julian O. Ferrufino Coronel, 30, of Remington, died at the scene.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at 8:53 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 29 and Old Alexandria Turnpike (Route 693).

According to Virginia State Police, the Ducati motorcycle was heading southbound on U.S. 29 when the driver of a Toyota Camry pulled into the intersection, and Coronel could not avoid them. There is a stop sign controlling traffic on Old Alexandria Turnpike.

The driver, Alice M. Filipowicz, suffered serious injuries in the crash. She has been charged with failing to yield the right of way.

The crash remains under investigation.
