With her first field goal on Saturday, Eastern Mennonite University women’s basketball senior Bianca Ygarza(Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) scored her 1000th point.
The two-time All-ODAC First Teamer is just the 11th woman in EMU history to score at least 1000 points, and currently has 1011. Ygarza is also 12th in program history with her 577 career rebounds and 15th with 121 steals. Ygarza has been named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference First Team in both her sophomore and junior seasons, as well as to the Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State Second Team both years. She was also named to the D3hoops.com All-South Region Third Team as a sophomore.
This year, Ygarza is averaging 14.5 points (on 49.6% shooting), 6.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game. She is in the top 12 in the ODAC in 8 different categories, including 3rd in both free throws and points per 40 minutes.
The Eastern Mennonite women hold a record of 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the ODAC as they head into Wednesday’s key road game at Virginia Wesleyan College, which is 4-0 in the ODAC.
