AFP

road-work-headerBeginning at 9 p.m. tonight, the eastbound lanes of Rio Road East will be closed between Route 29 and the traffic signal at the Albemarle Square/Mall Drive intersection. That intersection will remain open to traffic entering and exiting the shopping centers. The closure is necessary while a new water main is installed.

Traffic should follow the signed detour route using Branchlands Boulevard and Hillsdale Drive. The road will reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. Thursday. A similar closure and detour will be in effect overnight Thursday and Friday.

Next Monday and Tuesday nights the westbound lanes will be closed in the same location while the water main is installed underneath those lanes. The same closure time, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and detour route, Branchlands Boulevard and Hillsdale Drive, will be in effect.

More information about the Route 29 corridor improvements can be found on the project page,www.Route29Solutions.org.
