Early, early, early looks at 2015-2016: UVA basketball at #1, #2

uva basketballAssuming Justin Anderson returns, and we want to assume that, need to, to be able to function, UVA basketball looks to be maybe #1 or #2 in the preseason rankings for 2015-2016.

That’s the consensus of the way, way, way too early national rankings out milliseconds after Duke defeated Wisconsin for the 2015 NCAA title.

One of the early renderings of the upcoming season, from NBC Sports’ College Basketball Talk, has Virginia at #5, and the writer, Rob Dauster, does so assuming that Anderson isn’t returning. (Shudder that thought.)

Dauster does say in his piece that if Anderson returns, he moves UVA to #2 preseason.

CBS and Sporting News have UVA as their preseason #1s. SB Nation and ESPN have the Cavs at #2.

ACC rival UNC is also getting some way, way, way too early love, at #1 in the College Basketball Talk and SB Nation rankings, #2 in the CBS Sports look-see, #3 in ESPN and #4 in Sporting News.

It’s going to be a long seven months waiting for the next opening tip.
