Zion Williamson scored the go-ahead bucket with 30.3 seconds left, tipping in his own miss on a short jumper, and Coby White missed in the final seconds in a thrilling finish that saw Duke defeat North Carolina 74-73 in the ACC Tournament semifinals Friday night.
Williamson had 31 points and 11 rebounds as Duke (28-5) avenged a pair of regular-season losses to its rival.
But there was drama late. Cam Johnson missed a three after the Williamson tip-in, but RJ Barrett missed a pair of free throws with 12.4 seconds left, giving UNC (27-6) the final shot.
White pounded the ball into the floor before fighting his way toward the lane, hoisting a contested jumper that was well off the mark.
Nassir Little missed on a contested tip as the buzzer sounded.
Johnson led the Tar Heels with 23 points.
UNC shot 4-of-27 from three-point range.
