Douthat State Park Campsite Cook-off to be held Sept. 15

Douthat State ParkThe third annual Campsite Cook-off will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at Douthat State Park in Millboro. The event will be held from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Enjoy a day of sampling BBQ, live music, craft beer from Devils Backbone Brewery’s Outpost Tap Room of Lexington, and wine from Blue Ridge Vineyard of Eagle Rock. Spectators will be able to enjoy samples from each of the 21 competing teams if they wish. Concessions available from the Douthat State Park Environmental Education Group (Douthat S.P.E.ED).

Entrance fee is $10 per person, ages 10 and under enter free. There is no parking fee required for guests attending the event. Parking will be at Forest Park Truck & Equipment NAPA. Guests will be shuttled to and from the event. Craft beer tickets will be sold for $3 and wine tickets will be sold for $5 per ticket to adults ages 21 and older.

Live entertainment for the event includes: Garlynda’s Fancy FeetPatsy’s Dance Studio, Greg Perkins Music, Moonshine Express Band, and Chad Nickell & The Loose Change.

All proceeds from the event benefit the non-profit Douthat S.P.E.ED Group.
