Dixie Gas & Oil makes donation to 4-H, Market Animal Show and Sale

AFP

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERADixie Gas & Oil Corporation announced this week that it is supporting the Augusta County 4-H & FFA Market Animal Show and Sale through BP’s Fueling Communities Program with a grant donation of $1,500.

The grant will help the Augusta County 4-H & FFA Market Animal Show and Sale replace the trailer that was destroyed during the wind storm that happened in June 2012.  Augusta County 4-H & FFA Market Animal Show and Sale demonstrate to the agricultural community that it is practical to produce animals as a farming enterprise and that there are advantages to good breeding and properly formulated feed rations. In addition to the well being and maintenance of the animals, the event also helps teach the exhibitors the proper way to handle and show their livestock.

“Managing a show and sale of this magnitude requires a dedicated office space during the event. BP’s generous donation will allow the continuity of that vital administrative function” said Dr. Bruce Bowman, chairman of the show & sale committee. Faye Giles, 4-H Technician also quotes, “This program also encourages positive youth development, nurturing youth in developing life skills such as working  with others, responsibility, developing a strong work ethic, and exhibiting good character.”
