DISH Network doesn’t like that WWE is launching the WWE Network on Feb. 24. So to protest that move, DISH is not going to make the Feb. 23 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view available to its subscribers.
This makes sense … how?
“WWE has chosen to launch a 24/7 online network, without its TV partners, that includes all of its pay-per-view events. As WWE enters the increasingly fragmented media world by themselves, DISH will continue to consider the value of WWE pay-per-view on an event by event basis,” the satellite provider said in a statement.
“WWE is not willing to adjust their PPV costs to satellite and cable companies, which is unfair to their customers. We need to re-focus our efforts to support partners that better serve DISH customers.”
OK, so how does the launch of the WWE Network, a key feature of which will allow subscribers to access pay-per-views as part of their $9.99 a month subscription, a day after Elimination Chamber impact the cost structure for the Elimination Chamber?
Seems like another reason not to have DISH. Or another reason, if you do have DISH, to go ahead and sign up for WWE Network.
Not the best business move on the part of DISH.
