He joins Principal Nate Collins, who took the helm at the high school at the beginning of the 2017-18 academic year, and Assistant Principal Lori Swortzel.

Moore has nearly 20 years of experience working with youth and most recently taught math for five years at Kate Collins Middle School in Waynesboro. Before teaching, Moore worked with youth as a summer school coordinator, an internal school suspension supervisor and as the chief professional officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County.

He has a bachelor’s degree in economics and business from Emory & Henry College and a master’s degree in education from James Madison University.

“Mr. Moore has a clear passion for building strong relationships with students, teachers, and families in order to ensure student success,” Collins said. “I value the energy, enthusiasm, and expertise he brings with him, and I know Mr. Moore will make significant contributions to the positive culture we are developing at Lee High.  I am very excited to have him join our team, as we continue to build a school of excellence.”

Moore said he’s happy to join a team of educators who are committed to creating lifelong learners and pledged to promote collaboration between school administrators, faculty, parents and students.

“I am committed to providing the support and resources that will lead to effective teaching and increased student achievement,” Moore said. “I’m also committed to cultivating an environment in which all students and staff members are celebrated and encouraged to succeed.”

Superintendent Garett Smith introduced Moore to the school board at its regular meeting on May 14.
