Update: One dead in two-vehicle crash involving moped near Nelson County High School

Update: Wednesday, 12:26 p.m. Virginia State Police have updated the news regarding a two-vehicle crash in Nelson County on Tuesday.

A 2009 Ford Focus was traveling in the right lane on Route 29 near Drumheller Orchard Lane, when a 2018 Tao Tao moped swerved from the left lane into the right lane, striking the Ford.

The driver of the moped, Earl D. Manning, 71, of Lovingston, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
First report: Tuesday, 2:43 p.m. At 12:19 p.m. Tuesday, Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Nelson County. A Ford Focus and moped collided in the 6900 block of Thomas Nelson Highway, which is in the vicinity of Nelson County High School.

There is one confirmed fatality. The crash remains under investigation.
