Details for Staunton Pac’n the Streets Festival in September

staunton virginiaBack by popular demand after a third successful year, the Staunton Performing Arts Center’s nostalgic, family-friendly street fair, PAC ‘n the Streets, will return to downtown Staunton on September 10.

Even though the day began with inclement weather, some 2,000 people attended the 2015 festival, a 33 percent increase over 2014!

“Next year, even more people,” declares Anne Armentrout, chair of the Festival Committee, adding that the event, which is a free gift to the community, has not only been increasingly popular with residents of Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta Country, but also “a real draw for folks from the whole Shenandoah Valley and beyond for whom the Queen City is a favorite weekend destination.”

This year, in hopes of being even more diverse and community-oriented, PAC ‘n the Streets will expand to cover three blocks of Beverley Street:

  • • Between Market and New Streets, there will be the two-level East Beverley Stage featuring a different act every twenty minutes. Also in this block will be the Food Court, featuring ethnic and local specialty cuisine. Between the stage and the food vendors, there will be plenty of seating for watching performances as well as space for dining.
  • •The second block, New to Augusta, will be a greatly expanded Art & Artisan Walk, with an excellent selection of creative work and fine crafts, each a unique offering, on display and available for purchase.
  • •The third block, Augusta to Central, will feature the West Beverley Stage, which will also be presenting performances continuously all day. The rest of the block will be the activities area hosted by Staunton Parks and Recreation. Joining Parks & Recreation will be other community organizations offering games, creative projects and fun learning experiences. There will also be a mini petting zoo featuring rescued animals.

Again in 2016, there will be strolling performers and favorite characters from page, stage and screen, and the Everyone’s-A-Winner Drawing offering prizes for children and adults.

PAC ‘n the Streets 2016 will run from eleven in the morning until six in the evening.

“We expect a great day of entertainment, excitement, laughter and smiles,” notes Festival Director Karen Romig. “Many events promise fun for the whole family, but PAC ‘n the Streets has for the past three years absolutely delivered it—and this year, we’ll kick it up another notch!”
