Rasoul HeadshotDelegate Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke City) released the following statement regarding the Governor’s announcement Monday morning that Roanoke is the recipient of a $600,000 grant from Industrial Revitalization Fund.

“I am delighted to hear that Roanoke received the maximum award of funds from the Industrial Revitalization Fund for this important project.  We have been pushing state offices in Richmond to do more to help the Roanoke Valley region grow and improve, and this shows that they are committed to making that happen.

“From Crystal Spring to Grandin Village, Williamson Road to downtown, Roanoke has shown that it has talented entrepreneurs who can create successful businesses.  It is exciting that the currently empty Gill Memorial Building will be resuscitated into a technology innovation hub for small business.

“Small business development relies on collaboration, resources, and willpower.  I am pleased to see that Roanoke is working to provide more resources for our budding entrepreneurs to collaborate on projects that will stimulate our city’s economy and make Roanoke an even better place to live.  I look forward to seeing the new businesses that the Gill Memorial Technology Accelerator will help generate.  I will continue pushing for more support from Richmond in this arena.”

People can find out more about the project at the City of Roanoke website.
