Cyclist dead following accident on Route 42 in Virginia Saturday morning

A 31-year-old Clifton Forge man is dead after his bicycle was hit by a Dodge Ram on Route 42 in Alleghany County on Saturday morning.

Conor Ryan Chadwick was originally transported to Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital where he later died.

The crash occurred at 9:50 a.m. near Matthews Lane when a 2018 Dodge Ram struck the bicycle at the crest of a hill.

The name of the driver has not been released. The driver was not injured, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash remains under investigation.
