Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: Oct. 13-17

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directionsMonday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion July 2015.

Interstate 64 eastbound – Paving and installation of pavement markers. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., from mile marker 116 to Route 22 bridge. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Interstate 64 – Installation of pavement markers. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Route 616 to Route 22 bridge. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Routes 250, 654 – Stormwater drain cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 615, 627, 630, 635, 640, 647, 663, 664, 665, 667, 692, 696, 712, 717, 719, 740, 743, 783, 810 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 627, 726 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 688 (Midway Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 689 (Burchs Creek Road) to Route 635 (Miller School Road). Motorists should expect brief delays.

Routes 747, 784 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 1625 (Skyline Crest Drive) – Debris Removal. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 1720, 1721 (Forest Lakes community) – Paving on Route 1720 (Timberwood Parkway) from Route 1731 (Cove Pointe Road) to the end of state maintenance, and on Route 1721 (Timberwood Boulevard) from Route 1720 to Route 29 (Seminole Trail). Flagging will occur daily, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Culpeper County

Routes 522, 603, 621, 625, 633, 638, 640, 646, 657, 707, 802 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 611, 693, 706, 716 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 626 (Holly Springs Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 639 (Holly Springs Road) to Route 611 (Waterford Road). Motorists should expect brief delays.

Routes 673 (Newbys Shop Road) – Line painting from dead end to Route 645 (Kirtley Trail). Motorists should reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 716 (Whippoorwill Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 636 (Glebe Way) to the end of state maintenance. Motorists should expect brief delays

Route 746 (Settletown Place) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 714 (Dunkard Church Road) to the end of state maintenance. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. One lane of roundabout is now open. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. MondayThursday and 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 – Epoxy overlay. Alternating lane closures will occur from mile marker 31 to Route 245 (Old Tavern Road), in both directions during the hours listed below. Motorists should expect minor delays and obey traffic controls.

  • I-66 westbound, 6 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • I-66 eastbound, 9 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Route 615 (Thompsons Mill Road) – Line painting from Route 617 (Blackwell Mills Road) to Stafford County line. Motorists should reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 2015.

Routes 682, 688, 780, 799 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 689 (Dudie Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 694 (Old Bust Head Road) – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 821 (Pilgrims Rest Road) – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion October 2015.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2015.

Routes 608, 611, 622, 625, 632, 637, 638, 643, 654, 656, 675 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Greene County

Routes 604, 810 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 614 (Brokenback Mountain Road) – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 633 (Amicus Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 650 (Mount Olivet Road) – Pipe replacement. One lane will remain accessible during replacement from8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  Motorists should reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Louisa County

Interstate 64 – Pavement marking. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., from mile marker 136 to Goochland County line. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Town of Mineral: Surface treatment on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 602 from Route 661 to Route 601
  • Route 618 from Route 601 to Route 700
  • Route 631 from Route 33 to Hanover County line
  • Route 680 from end of state maintenance to Route 650
  • Route 701 from Route 655 to Route 618

 

Madison County

Routes 643, 655 – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

 

Orange County

Routes 20, 522, 600, 612, 615, 618, 629, 630, 631, 644, 655, 657 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 643 (Cox Mill Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

 

Rappahannock County

Route 659 (Resettlement Road) – Rehabilitation of Jordan River bridge. Road closed Oct. 6-22. Motorists should use posted detour: Route 659 to Route 606 (Fodderstack Road) to Route 628 (Dearing Road) and back to Route 659.
